I am an impassioned spirit. I love to write; I love to teach; I love to read.

I believe the overwhelming majority of my generation has passionate opinions about the way things should be, but they do not act on these passions because they do not believe they can affect change.

I left school for 10 months to explore beyond the boundaries of my home, and my whole life has changed. I don't believe we have to tackle issues in and of themselves. To do so, in fact, may be a futile exercise, for as humans our solutions will never be perfect … And so we will find ourselves fighting endless wars.

But if we tackle our own apathy, and take a stand for what we believe, and live our lives in ways that bring us closer to happiness instead of closer to death, I believe we will find ourselves in the midst of a peace movement that happened not because we sought to fight war and injustice (and who ever thought that made sense, anyway?) but because we no longer have the inclination to fight. Period.

This probably makes me ridiculously optimistic, but I would rather see the world as potentially more beautiful than she ever was than as dying at the hands of fools. I'm just not ready to give up.
